Key Safety Points for Using Your Blasting Helmet
1. Essential Air Supply:
- Clean Air is Mandatory: This respirator MUST be supplied with clean, breathable air of Grade D or better at all times.
- No Air Purification: The BLASTING HELMET does NOT purify air or filter contaminants.
- Reliable Air Source: Breathable air must be supplied to the point where the safety air supply hose attaches.
- Air Quality Standards: Supplied breathing air must meet the requirements for Type 1 gaseous air as defined by the Compressed Gas Association Commodity Specifications.
2. Breathing Air Pressure:
- Continuous Monitoring: Continuously monitor air pressure at the attachment point while air is flowing to the respirator.
- Accurate Readings: Use a reliable pressure gauge to monitor air pressure while the respirator is in use.
3. Head Harness Adjustment:
- Unclip Pegs: To adjust the head harness, first, unclip the locating pegs.
- Slide Band: Slide the band inwards to reduce the size or outwards to increase it.
- Secure Pegs: Once the desired size is achieved, clip the locating pegs back together.
4. Safe Helmet Removal:
- Exit the Working Area: Always exit the working area BEFORE removing your helmet.
- Reverse Donning Procedures: Follow the reverse steps of the respirator donning procedure.
5. Proper Storage:
- Clean and Inspect: Clean and inspect all respirator components before storage.
- Protect from Damage: Place cleaned components in a plastic bag or airtight container.
- Avoid Harsh Conditions: Store the respirator away from excessive heat, dust, cold, moisture, or harmful chemicals.
